Morning Rounds start at 7 am and consist of cleaning out the white headed vulture cage, Black Eagle cage, Fish Eagles cage, Caracel Cage and The Servals Cage.
Afternoon rounds start at half 3 and we go round and feed and top up water. Same animals as the morning rounds.
Inbetween round we do any necessary cleaning of cheetah and lion camps and feeding cages as well as any other odd jobs that need doing.
Emma the serval has just had a baby so we had to remove Scruffball (male serval) fron the enclosure. The Baby is doing really well and is sooo cute.
May the Caracel is one of my favourites looks a bit like a lynx, she is very pretty.
Ditch and BigBoy are two lions on the camp who are hugggee! They are really cool but not very friendly.
There are 4 other lions in a different enclosure, the two females are not very friendly but the 2 younger males are very friendly as they were hand reared my the camp staff. I Stroked them through the fence yesterday. You need to have quick reflexes just incase.
Bullet the Cheetah is the most friendly animal here, he is quite young and is bought out to the public so they can have pictures with him and stroke him. He is very playful.
There are 8 other cheetahs in different enclosures, Joly and Jumba, Shanande, Porsche and her 2 ‘cubs’ and the mountain view cheetahs. We visited the local cheetah project and saw a King cheetah which was very interesting.
Chui the leopard can be grumpy but he will let you stroke him through the fence which is awesome. when he stands up he looks really cute and stumpy :D There are 2 other leopards on the camp who are very scary and ferocious. But awesome none the less.
Della the Rhino is 15 months old and needs constant baby sitting other wise she gets very grumpy. Although she is only about hip height she is very heavy and attempts to playfully run into you which can be painfull if you dont notice quick enough.
We rescued a Pangelin the other night but re released him onto another reserve today, they are very rare animals a bit like an anteater but with scales.
There are many other animals on the camp that i have been and will work with:
Honey badgers, Fish Eagles, Black Eagle, Hooded Vultures, Marabou Storks, Hyenas, Hyrax’s, Dika, Sable, Raptors, Hornbills, Jenets and Bateliers as well as many other species of bird.
There are also alot of animals on the reserve that we keep and eye on:
